Medical technology company Siemens Healthineers has secured clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Atellica CI Analyzer for immunoassay and clinical chemistry testing.
Available in major markets globally, the Atellica CI Analyzer is intended to bring the compact testing system to address lab challenges.

According to the Germany-based firm, the analyser is suitable for labs operating at low to medium testing volumes as it focuses on safety and security measures.
It has a 1.9m2 footprint that is said to be ideal for smaller laboratories and helps them tackle operational challenges including labour shortages.
The Atellica CI Analyzer also uses the same reagents, consumables, and intelligent software as the company’s flagship Atellica Solution for both standalone labs and satellite labs of wider health networks, the medical technology firm said.
Siemens Healthineers diagnostics head Sharon Bracken said: “The Atellica CI Analyzer elevates laboratory operations to a new level of agility. Labs today need testing instrumentation and informatics that can easily keep pace with rapidly changing testing demands as they occur.
“This next-generation laboratory analyser anticipates workflow bottlenecks, mitigates them proactively, and delivers insights based on data that help laboratory staff do their job more effectively and efficiently.”
The Atellica CI Analyzer is designed to take advantage of the downtime and boost lab productivity and profitability by using random access sampling, micro-volume aspiration, and automatic maintenance and quality control scheduling.
The Atellica CI Analyzer is equipped with the Atellica Laboratory Evaluation Suite, thereby ensuring the generation of inspection-ready reports. This enables lab employees to work on other crucial lab activities while labs can meet accreditation criteria without the need for additional software.
For greater security, there are options for user authentication, role-based authorisations, and audit trails in the new analyser, Siemens Healthineers said.
The analyser has a planned menu of more than 200 assays spanning 20 conditions so that each lab in a health network can select the appropriate tests for its patient population. The results from over 50 key tests can be obtained within 14 minutes, claimed the medical technology company.
