Featuring rainbow technology, the Radius-7 connects to the Root patient monitoring and connectivity platform.

Radius-7 with Root helps in noninvasive monitoring of more than 10 parameters, including total hemoglobin (SpHb).

SpHb is a breakthrough measurement, which noninvasively and continuously measures hemoglobin concentration.

When monitoring ambulating patients, the Radius-7 communicates to Root at the bedside and next to the firm’s Patient SafetyNet to alert clinicians of critical changes in oxygen saturation, pulse rate, respiration, and hemoglobin.

Masimo founder and CEO Joe Kiani said: "Never before could patients be monitored for such key parameters as continuous SpHb, which can help clinicians make more timely and informed blood management decisions, while patients are fully mobile.

"Previous wearable patient monitors were hampered by a limited range of measurements and false alarms due to motion."

Earlier this month, Masimo secured FDA 510(k) clearance for its O3 regional oximetry device.

Regional oximetry, also called as tissue or cerebral oximetry, will help clinicians in monitoring cerebral oxygenation in situations where pulse oximetry alone is not fully indicative of the oxygen in the brain because of several factors like the type of clinical procedure being undertaken.
