US-based Q’Apel Medical has launched the 072 Hippo Aspiration System, its new-generation aspiration technology for individuals suffering from a stroke caused by a large vessel occlusion.
Recently cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the stroke system includes the 072 Hippo Aspiration Catheter and its Cheetah companion for neurovascular intervention.
The Hippo catheter’s proprietary adaptive tip is said to offer accuracy in clot engagement and removal, thereby providing customised performance for a range of clot sizes and morphologies.
Q’Apel Medical said that this feature delivers real-time visibility and control to physicians during the crucial stages of the procedure. This provides insights that were previously not available, said the company.
The Cheetah is a flexible guiding companion that works in tandem with the adaptable tip of the Hippo catheter to expedite the delivery of the Hippo to the clot’s face.
The combination of Hippo and Cheetah produces a synergistic system that offers speed, precision, and integration in thrombectomy procedures, claimed the company. It also complements the company’s Walrus Balloon Guide Catheter for a comprehensive stroke solution.
