Pentax Medical and Jiangsu Vedkang Medical Science and Technology (Vedkang) have created a new joint venture (JV) for the development of endoscopic therapeutics.

The new JV, dubbed Pentax Medical Therapeutics (Jiangsu), will involve in the development of single-use therapeutics products in the field of flexible medical endoscopy.

Based in China, the new company will focus on the commercialisation of products in major markets such as Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Vedkang chairman and CEO Zhuang XiaoJing said: “Pentax Medical has always been a valuable business partner to Vedkang, and we are delighted to continue our close relationship in this joint venture by pursuing further possibilities with doctors and patients across the world.”

The new company will deliver advanced single-use devices to global customers via Pentax Medical sales network, supported by Vedkang’s production and research and development (R&D) infrastructure.

Medical flexible endoscopes and therapeutic devices are suitable for use in minimally invasive procedures.

The devices allow physicians and health care systems to reduce procedure cost/complexity and improve patient recovery time.

Pentax Medical global president Gerald Bottero said: “We are excited to establish this collaboration with Vedkang to further advance our mission to improve the standard of patient care and quality of healthcare around the world.

“Our collaboration will support the fast-growing Endotherapy segment as new and innovative procedures achieve traction and penetration worldwide.”

Pentax Medical, a division of Hoya Group, offers advanced endoscopic products and services.

In December last year, the company launched new endoPRO 20|20 software, an endoscopy image management and patient data analysis system.

Based in Changzhou city of Jiangsu province, Vedkang develops, manufactures and commercialises endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices.
