Based in Paris, PlasmaBiotics is engaged in the designing, manufacturing and marketing of devices for drying and storage of endoscopes.

Pentax Medical EMEA president and Pentax Europe managing director Rainer Burkard said: “The investment in PlasmaBiotics enables us to provide our customers with an efficient and effective drying and storage solution to address unmet hygiene needs associated with endoscope reprocessing.”

The acquired business will help Pentax Medical to expand its hygiene portfolio and improve its focus on reducing cross-contamination risks to enhance patient safety in endoscopy.

PlasmaBiotics produces PlasmaTYPHOON ultra-fast drying unit for endoscopes, as well as PlasmaBAG single-use device for active storage with plasma.

Both products reduce endoscope reprocessing cycle times, and minimize the risk of bacterial contamination through effective drying mechanism for the endoscopic channels and active storing of the endoscopes with plasma.

In addition, the PlasmaBiotics products can be easily incorporated into most current endoscope reprocessing protocols.

Pentax Medical recently introduced DEC video duodenoscope, whisch is provided with a sterile disposable elevator cap and single-use reprocessing accessories

PlasmaBiotics CEO and founder Dr Daniel Vinteler said: “PlasmaBiotics is excited to join the HOYA Group as a part of the PENTAX Team. This is an important step for PlasmaBiotics as we continue to receive enthusiastic responses from our clients on PlasmaTYPHOON’s performance, ease of use and effectiveness.”
