US-based medical device maker OptraSCAN has secured CE-IVDR marking for the OS-Ultra scanners, a high-performance product range of brightfield scanners.

According to the firm, the scanners are priced at an extremely affordable price point, including pay-per-scan-based OPEX models.

The loading capacity of OS Ultra scanners ranges from 80 to 480 slides.

The system can scan tissues or cells with a 15mm by 15mm area at 40x magnification in less than 60 seconds using no-touch continuous loading.

The scanners generate high-resolution pictures that may be further evaluated using the company’s artificial intelligence-powered software.

OptraSCAN said that the slides from cytopathology and histopathology can be scanned using the platform.

Additionally, the platform may be set up for volume scanning with five to 11 layers or displayed as a composite, single layer, fully focused image.

The tray and basket mechanism utilised by OS-Ultra scanners is intended to move and arrange slides for scanning in an effective manner while minimising slide handling errors.

The firm said that the OS Ultra is an effective, reliable, and consistent option for companies looking to expand their operations by improving throughput.

OptraSCAN’s comprehensive digital pathology solutions include scanners, image management and viewing software, telepathology software, and image analysis tools for biomarker and morphometry.

OptraSCAN founder and CEO Abhi Gholap said: “The CE-IVDR mark will enhance the acceptability of OS-Ultra systems across the globe and strengthen OptraSCAN’s mission to improve patient outcomes with affordable and easy-to-implement digital pathology solutions.

“With 250% growth in our year-to-year global sales revenues, OptraSCAN is a preferred vendor of many small to large laboratories, clinics, and hospitals worldwide.”

OptraSCAN provides cost-effective, fully integrated solutions to optimise the return on investment and enhance the effectiveness of your pathology services.

Last year, the company launched a new OS-Ultra 320 high-speed digital pathology scanner.
