iSOFT Group, Australia's health information technology company, has reported that St Jansdal Hospital in Netherlands has extended its contract for iSOFT's Lorenzo solution for a further three years, in a deal worth EUR4.5m.

iSOFT will implement additional Lorenzo patient management and clinical decision support functionality at the 340-bed public hospital at Harderwijk. Support for existing hospital information systems will continue while they are being replaced with Lorenzo solutions.

St Jansdal is a key partner in the development of iSOFT solutions such as an iPhone ‘app’ that enables nurses to register general patient data, including pulse and temperature readings, directly into the electronic patient record.

In February, iSOFT had installed Lorenzo 3.5 across some surgical departments at St Jansdal with the new release providing tools for patient management, results reporting, requesting and advanced clinical data capture. Roll-out of a GP Viewer portal was also completed, allowing 67 GPs in the community to view patient records and radiology and pathology reports at the hospital.

Peter Herrmann, managing director of iSOFT Central Europe, said: “The renewal is in line with St Jansdal’s ambitions to further enhance patient management and the medical decision process with information technology and so advance patient safety and patient satisfaction. St Jansdal is a pioneer in the use of healthcare IT. We enjoy an excellent partner relationship and share similar philosophies, which provide a foundation for continuous patient-centered innovation.”
