Medical device company Intelivation Technologies has announced the introduction of new Advantage-C PEEK interbody fusion device.

The company has designed the Advantage-C device for use in skeletally mature patients in levels C2-T1 in conjunction with a fixation for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) procedures.

The new interbody fusion device is developed to enhance fusion, as well as maintain elasticity that is similar to bone and radiolucency of the cage body.

Intelivation Technologies president Amit Sinha said: “We are looking forward to a successful launch of Advantage-C and the myriad of efficiencies this device will bring to both surgeons and hospital systems.

“Advantage-C is the basis for our rapidly growing interbody platform that will see continued innovation and product releases over the next year.”

Intelivation stated that Advantage C is a PEEK cervical cage specified for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.

The device is produced using PEEK material, which facilitates enhanced visualisation of postoperative fusion. Tantalum markers display position of the cage on X-ray.

In addition, the cage is said to deliver optimal vertebral body contact, while the surface ridges prevent cage expulsion.

Intelivation Technologies CEO Rob Anderson said: “Our growing line of interbody devices further drives home our commitment to bring cost-effective spinal solutions that consistently provide superior clinical results to the market. On behalf of the executive team, I am very impressed how quickly our R&D team worked to bring this device to market.”

The company will showcase the Advantage-C PEEK interbody fusion device at the 36th Annual NASS Meeting in Boston, which will take place from 29 September to 2 October.
