The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved UE LifeSciences' (UELS) breast-imaging tool, NoTouch BreastScan device.

NoTouch BreastScan is a fully computerized functional infrared imaging system which includes a patent pending dual-infrared detector design.

NoTouch BreastScan analyzes temperature pixels from various infrared frames to create a real-time objective report for the doctor.

New York based gynecologist John Gomes said NoTouch BreastScan looks at breast cancer from a physiologic vantage point not visible to anatomic imaging modalities like mammography and ultrasound.

"So when we combine the information from both sides, we can assess the full picture," Gomes added.

UELS plans to provide NoTouch BreastScan services to gynecology, medical oncology and radiology clinics in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania regions.
