Medical devices manufacturer Confluent Medical Technologies has opened a Specialty Polymer Tubing centre in Chattanooga in southeastern Tennessee, US.

Expected to be operational in the third quarter this year, the new advanced facility will allow the company to enhance its capabilities to offer complex delivery systems for structural heart, neurovascular and peripheral vascular applications.

The new facility features PTFE liners, polyimide tubing, multi-layer composite tubing (braided and non-braided), as well as coated wire.

The addition of filmcast technology will help Confluent to strengthen its vertically integrated supply chain to provide thin-walled and tightly tolerance engineered tubing.

The Chattanooga site will also work with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to offer customised tubing for demanding devices.

Confluent Medical president and CEO Dean Schauer said: “Having a strong manufacturing location here in the U.S. is vital to supporting our growing customer base.

“Combine this new site’s capabilities with our complex catheter offerings out of our Austin, Texas, site and you have a powerful partner in Confluent Medical to assist with your catheter shaft needs.”

In May this year, Confluent announced the expansion of its manufacturing location in Costa Rica to meet increasing demand in Nitinol processing and specialised catheters.

Confluent collaborates with OEMs to develop a selective product portfolio, which consists of transcatheter heart valves, neurovascular implants, endovascular stent grafts and advanced smart catheters.

The company also manages facilities in Fremont and Laguna Niguel of California, Warwick of Rhode Island, Windham of Maine, Austin of Texas and San Jose of Cost Rica.
