Global eye care company Alcon has announced the launch of its the Clareon family of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in the US.

Utilising the company’s advanced IOL material, the lenses intend to deliver consistent visual outcomes with exceptional clarity that lasts. It is made up of a glistening-free IOL material that has low levels of haze and subsurface nanoglistenings (SSNGs).

Alcon is now offering Clareon Monofocal, Clareon PanOptix, Clareon PanOptix Toric, Clareon Vivity and Clareon Vivity Toric IOLs in the US.

The Clareon portfolio is developed to offer sharp, crisp vision with a proprietary edge designed to help reduce glare and posterior capsular opacification. The lenses are equipped with STABLEFORCE Haptics that provides superior axial and rotational stability.

The company is expected to launch the Clareon family of IOLs in international markets throughout 2022 and 2023.

The firm’s lenses like Clareon Monofocal and Clareon Toric IOLs are already used by more than one million eyes in more than 70 countries.

Alcon intends to make Clareon Toric available in the US later this year.

In January this year, Alcon completed the acquisition of Ivantis for $475m.
