US-based CapsuleTech has introduced new SmartLinx IQ, an analytics engine for its SmartLinx Medical Device Information System (MDIS).

SmartLinx IQ offers worthful insight into a healthcare organization’s medical device infrastructure, comprising clinical workflow, patient data and medical device utilization.

CapsuleTech marketing and product management vice-president Kevin Phillips said: "Healthcare organizations have made tremendous investments in their medical devices in order to properly monitor and diagnose patients, and deliver targeted therapies.

"SmartLinx IQ unlocks this ‘trapped’ data to provide a window into a wealth of information on patients and their treatment, and the devices themselves."

"SmartLinx IQ can apply analytics to the vast array and volume of medical device data collected by our system on each patient and each device, each hour of every day to provide any number of user-defined views."

SmartLinx IQ is said to apply utilization and operational information on the medical devices to assist nurse managers in their procurement, management and maintenance at the point-of-care.

The company is planning the general availability of the product in the second quarter of this year. It is exhibiting the new analytics engine at the Healthcare information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2015 Annual Meeting in Chicago, which is being held from 13 to 15 April.

CapsuleTech provides medical device integration solutions for hospitals and healthcare organizations.
