US-based life science research and diagnostics solutions provider Bruker has rolled out new diagnostic solutions for routine clinical microbiology and infection diagnostics laboratories.

The company introduced next-generation MALDI Biotyper IVD Software, MBT Mycobacteria IVD Kit, MBT HT Filamentous Fungi IVD Module, and LiquidArray Gastrointestinal PCR Assay.

Its MALDI Biotyper (MBT) platform enables rapid identification and classification of bacteria, yeasts and fungi, using a molecular approach based on proteomic fingerprinting, said the firm.

Bruker microbiology and infection diagnostics division president Wolfgang Pusch said: “With the introduction of our new IVD workflows, kits, software and reference libraries for mycobacteria and fungi, we further expand the applications of our established MALDI Biotyper platform.

“This creates additional value for all current and future customers. The new LiquidArray Gastrointestinal is a next-generation syndromic panel with amazing pathogen coverage.

“It is ideal for laboratories which are interested in a broad screening approach to detect most pathogens in one run.”

Bruker rolled out its MBT Compass HT IVD software to provide a high sample throughput for microbial identification with a time-to-result of about five minutes for 96 sample spots.

The MBT system enables rapid sample target exchange and can analyse up to 600 samples per hour while covering over 4,600 species in the reference library.

It comes with the new IDealTune, which offers fully automated tuning of MALDI-TOF parameters within a sample run and delivers consistent data quality without user intervention.

According to the company, mycobacteria are challenging species in microbiology, and an optimised sample preparation protocol is essential for proper results.

It has introduced a new MBT Mycobacteria IVD Kit, which offers a dedicated sample preparation method for mycobacteria cultivated in liquid, along with solid media.

The inactivation method eliminates the need for boiling but facilitates incubation of the mycobacteria at room temperature, with an inactivation reagent.

Bruker launched its new MBT HT Filamentous Fungi IVD Module, which comes with an advanced Mycelium Transfer (MyT) sample preparation procedure.

The company has rolled out new LiquidArray technology for rapid, multiplexed PCR pathogen detection using the high-precision FluoroCycler XT thermocycler. It facilitates the simultaneous detection of up to 26 pathogens that cause gastroenteritis.

The technology combines advanced probe and thermocycling technologies with results-at-a-glance visualisation for the simultaneous analysis of multiple targets from a single sample.

The LiquidArray Gastrointestinal test is validated on the GenoXtract fleXT, which simplifies the extraction and PCR by providing fully integrated workflow from sample to result.
