MOSS VRS system allows for locking and unlocking of pedicle screw during complex correction and reconstruction manoeuvres

Germany-based medical technology manufacturer Biedermann Motech has announced the launch of its advanced pedicle screw platform MOSS VRS as a fully modular solution.

Featuring a new-generation pedicle screw technology, MOSS VRS system allows the surgeons to lock the pedicle screw at any angle, at any time during surgery.

The functionality is said to provide surgeons with superior intraoperative options in real-time, using a single, highly functional implant.

Traditional pedicle screw systems include a wide range of different screw types.

In contrast, MOSS VRS system allows for locking and unlocking of pedicle screw during complex correction and reconstruction maneuvers, when required by the surgeon.

With the addition of MOSS Modularity, surgeons have an option to attach modular MOSS VRS tulip heads after the pedicle screw shafts have been placed.

The advanced technologies of the MOSS VRS System are licensed from Biedermann Technologies, a company which holds the patent and technology portfolio.

The company is engaged in development, production, and distribution of high-quality implant systems and instruments for spinal and extremity surgery.

With a presence in the spinal market for more than 35 years, it claims to have developed the world’s first polyaxial pedicle screw system.

In September 2019, the company announced the launch of the MOSS VRS pedicle screw system to the US market.

It had also expanded its product portfolio for spinal surgery with the integration of the DELTA XS Shank Based Retractor System into its iMAS360 Procedure.
