Medical laboratory Andromedical has rolled out the new Androsurgery surgical extender to minimise the side effects related to prostatectomy radical, transurethral resection of the prostate, and other urological surgeries.

The Androsurgery extender is designed to prevent the shortening of the male organ, a common incidence post-prostate surgery, thereby restoring the confidence and emotional well-being of the patients.

According to Andromedical, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)- approved and clinically tested penile traction device is made of a plastic base ring, two metal shafts with internal springs, as well as upper plastic support with a silicone band.

The medical laboratory said that urological surgeries often cause scar retraction. When this heals, the area around it shrinks, thereby reducing the organ’s size and impacting the self-esteem of patients.

The surgical extender maintains the penis in tension and thus prevents the retraction of the penis.

Andromedical recently collaborated with medical laboratory Timm Medical for the distribution of this surgical extender in the US.

Timm Medical, a maker of vacuum medical devices, has included medical extenders like the Andropeyronie in its range for the treatment of Peyronie’s disease.

Additionally, the partnership is anticipated to help Andromedical to launch a postoperative protocol for prostatectomy in the US.

The company is focused on advancing the urological care of men, improving patients’ quality of life, and enhancing the emotional burden often caused by prostatectomy.
