Technology-enabled healthcare provider Carbon Health has acquired a fully integrated diabetes platform Steady Health for an undisclosed sum.

Steady Health uses data from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices to deliver personalised medical care from top endocrinologists.

The acquisition of Steady Health will allow Carbon Health to boost its rollout of an advanced primary care model that incorporates the firm’s clinic footprint with virtual and hardware-enabled capabilities.

Steady Health founder and CEO Henrik Berggren said: “Becoming part of Carbon Health will enable us to provide end-to-end care for our patients, including in-person visits at a Carbon clinic when needed. We’re super excited to carry on our mission of empowering people with diabetes to live the life they want.”

Carbon Health has appointed former Apple Health head Myoung Cha as chief strategy officer CSO) and president of the new home-based Care division, and former Honor president Nita Sommers as chief growth officer (CGO).

Cha will help Carbon Health to expand its device-enabled home care operations, including virtual care, remote patient monitoring, and home diagnostics services.

Cha will also enable Carbon Health to advance its omnichannel care model, which is designed to better meet patient requirements through different access points such as in-person clinics, home-based care, and easy-to-use consumer health tools.

Sommers will support Carbon Health to expand its services into areas such as mental health and paediatrics, in addition to developing its value-based offerings for employers and payers.

Carbon Health co-founder and CEO Eren Bali said: “From day one, our mission has been to increase the accessibility of high-quality care, which means continuing to increase access points and improve communication between patients and healthcare providers.”
