As I showed last time, the amount of energy that can be harvested from solar panels is distinctly limited by the physics that governs the process. Realistically, we might expect to get around 40 W/m2 when averaged across a 24 hour period at a typical spot on earth. While this is quite adequate for some tasks, it is wholly inadequate for others.
But, perhaps that other icon of clean energy (i.e. the windmill) would fare better?
