Radel® Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is an amorphous transparent high-performance thermoplastic. It is known for its high heat resistance, extreme toughness, high flexural and tensile strength, excellent hydrolytic stability, and good resistance to a broad range of chemicals including aqueous mineral acids, bases, and oxidizing agents and most solvents. Additionally, PPSU is inherently flame resistant.
Westlake Radel WM stock shapes are made exclusively from Solvay, Radel PPSU. Its regulatory compliance profile and its ability to withstand steam, gamma and ethylene oxide sterilization processes make it ideal for use in medical and life science applications.
PPSU is an excellent choice for components that are exposed to hot water, and corrosive media because of its exceptional hydrolytic and hydrolysis and chemical resistance. Examples include pipe fittings, and battery containers. Polyphenylsulfone is also used in the automotive and aerospace industries in applications where superior thermal and mechanical properties are required.
