Propylux is Westlake Plastic’ family of extruded round bar and compression molded sheet semi-finished shapes made from polypropylene (PP) resins. This semi-crystalline, opaque off-white thermoplastic offers broad chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, hydrolysis resistance, and toughness.

While polypropylene has lower heat resistance and mechanical properties compared to semi-crystalline “engineering” grade thermoplastics like polyamide, POM, and polyesters, it can be compounded with a wide range of reinforcements and fillers to extend its mechanical properties and heat resistance performance. It is readily colored and can be shaped by all common melt processing and thermoforming methods and is easy to machine. Polypropylene is used in a variety of industries including automotive, chemical processing, medical device, and semiconductor.

Polypropylene plastic is considered a low-toxin, heat-tolerant material, making it suitable for use in food packaging and storage containers, bottles, and medical devices. Westlake Plastics extrudes and compression molds Propylux across several product sub-families, including: Propylux, Propylux VF, Propylux HS, Propylux HS2, Propylux SD-A, Propylux CN-P and Propylux CN-F.
