Obwalden (Switzerland) – as of 2017, no inheritance or gift taxes!

Now the Canton of Obwalden will become even more attractive from a tax perspective. Obwalden is entirely abolishing inheritance and gift taxes, and once again sets the tone.

Since the introduction of inheritance and gift taxes, the immediate family had been exempted from the tax. Because of the supplementary tax law, inheritance and gift taxes will be cancelled for the entire population of Obwalden starting 1 January 2017.
