Moreover, the V-273 linear positioning stages not only have a position sensor, but can optionally be equipped with a force sensor, which offers interesting possibilities for applications.
Voice coil actuators offer considerable advantages regarding wear and dynamics compared to traditional spindle-based solutions. The actuators are designed with a bipolar, non-commutated drive mechanism that consists of two components: a permanent magnet and a coil. Since such actuators use as few mechanical components as possible, there is less friction and backlash, and therefore greater precision. For the V-273, this also means less wear and subsequently a long service life of more than 10 million cycles.
PIMag™ V-273 linear actuators stand out mainly due to their high dynamics and compact designs. They offer travel ranges of up to 20 mm and velocities of up to 250 mm/s. An integrated linear encoder for direct position measurement ensures reliable position control and repeatable accuracy with a resolution of 0.1 µm.
Since the feed force of the direct magnetic drive is a function of the electric current, linear actuators can be used not only for motion but also for force generation. An optional force sensor makes it possible to apply defined forces with a resolution of up to 5 mN. Combined with a digital controller, tasks in automation lines that require rapid, precise micrometer positioning and controlled actuator force can be performed quickly.
