Zweena has selected ITelagen, a provider of electronic health record (EHR) hosting and management to host Zweena Health Record, a personal health record application, to provide patient access to medical records nationwide.

Zweena said that ITelagen, elected for its expertise in EHR management, has been providing professional mission-critical hosting, security and application management for the solution.

The Zweena Health Record service includes a medical record collection service and an Internet-based set of tools that allows patients to access and coordinate their lifelong health information and make appropriate parts of it available to those who need it. Individuals access their patient record information via the Internet, using security and privacy controls provided from ITelagen, at any time and from any location.

Zweena members can share access with family members, doctors or school nurses, who are granted access to view their Zweena medical record. Zweena collects the paper medical record directly from doctors and hospitals, and loads it into the proprietary Zweena health record application.

The Zweena Health Record solution is offered to both consumers as well as businesses for their employees as a method to driving down the costs related to health insurance premiums.

John Phelan, CEO of Zweena, said: “Zweena’s vision that all individuals should be able to readily access, understand, and use their personal health information was an important factor in selecting Itelagen. Their experience with EHRs and understanding of the importance of patient data was a critical component to our selected them as a trusted partner.”

John O’Keefe, CEO of Itelagen, said: “Patient managed personal health records enables individuals with a more active role in their healthcare management and improve the quality of care they receive. Zweena is on the forefront of this technology to deliver this capability and we are thrilled to be part of this solution.”
