Z-Medica has signed a distribution agreement with Nihon-Kohden, under which Nihon-Kohden has got exclusive right to distribute Z-Medica’s QuikClot line of hemostatic agents to hospital, military and law enforcement markets throughout Japan.

QuikClot is a surgical gauze impregnated with kaolin, an inert material without any contraindications, and can achieve hemostasis in severe bleeding situations in as little as three minutes.

QuikClot is used in several clinical specialties, including cardiology, interventional radiology, critical care, dermatology, emergency medicine, orthopedics and OB/Gyn.

Z-Medica chief executive officer Brian Herrman said that clinical practitioners outside of the US will find QuikClot to be a useful tool in achieving hemostasis in a fast, safe and convenient manner, and the company intends to continue expanding their international distribution through best-of-breed partners such as Nihon-Kohden.

Nihon Kohden Import Business Operation general manager Hiroshi Aida said that they are very pleased to have this opportunity to market QuikClot in Japan which helps many patients who suffer from bleeding and also helps medical professionals with much shorter time for achieving hemostasis and is a nice addition for their product portfolio.
