The desktop printer will help healthcare professionals to label medications and specimens before and during surgery in the operating room.

The new healthcare printer can be used for medication identification in the pharmacy, sample processing in the lab, and tissue identification in the surgery center.

It can also be used in the applications such as blood bank labeling, medical records labeling, compliance labeling and asset identification and tracking.

Zebra Technologies Americas healthcare vertical manager Andy Tippet said the company is well positioned to provide a higher level of patient safety and improved staff productivity with the addition of the GK420 Healthcare printer.

"Whether it’s positively identifying patients, specimens, or medications, Zebra’s solutions are specifically designed to optimize workflows and improve identification accuracy within healthcare environments," Tippet added.

Recently, the company also added QLn Healthcare Solutions Series and the HC100 wristband printer to its healthcare portfolio.
