Whale Imaging has secured 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its new G-Arm B6 Duo imaging system.

The B6 Duo is the next generation of the G-Arm, which includes advanced improvements such as axial tilt and greater table access.

G-Arm uses X-Beam technology and iC-Clear algorithms to provide quality images, in addition to reducing the impact of radiation.

Compatible with all surgical tables, the new imaging system will use two x-ray beams asynchronously to produce bi-lateral video and images.

The company also produces Sigma Series portable ultrasound systems, in addition to G-Arm bi-plane surgical imaging technology.

Whale Imaging sales and marketing SVP Laurence Heron said: "We're thrilled to be launching this sooner than our original intended date.

"We feel that getting the B6 Duo into our customer's OR will really revolutionize surgical imaging for orthopedic, spine and neuro surgeons as well as pain practitioners."

Whale Imaging G-Arm division vice president Phil Posa said: "Within a few years, we expect the B6 Duo to be a common fixture in orthopedics and spine departments across the US.”

Based in Greater Boston area of US, Whale Imaging is engaged in the development, manufacturing, marketing and service of surgical imaging systems across the globe.
