US-based healthcare technology firm WellSky has unveiled a patient engagement platform, dubbed WellSky Patient, to detect patient’s health risks, avoid associated complications and optimise outcomes.

The firm has designed the WellSky Patient to boost communication and transparency between families, patients, and clinical care teams to focus on all aspects of physical, mental, and spiritual health.

According to the company, the patient engagement platform ensures that the patients are well connected to their care providers between visits via video-based telehealth, two-way communication, and guided condition management programmes.

Simultaneously, the patient’s data generated from remote monitoring and health status submissions develops an overall view for clinicians to monitor a patient’s progression and identify needs for clinical intervention.

WellSky chief clinical officer Tim Ashe said: “Patient engagement technology has historically focused on completing tasks related to a care episode, such as scheduling an appointment, completing an intake form, or viewing a lab result.

“That paradigm must shift toward the person, with a focus on how to best guide them through the care journey while surveying and managing their condition virtually. The innovation WellSky has developed to bring this strategy to life will be of great value to our clients, their care team members, and their patients.”

The company said that healthcare organisations can acquire new insights into patient habits and conditions by focusing on the home as the centre of patient engagement.

The WellSky Patient platform puts the patients at the centre of their own care, enabling healthcare providers to provide new and differentiated care experiences, allowing them to modify the care plan, and manage expenses.

It will also help the organisation to plan specific interventions to better optimise the outcomes for patients and succeed in providing value-based care.

In February this year, WellSky entered a deal to acquire virtual patient engagement technology company TapCloud for an undisclosed sum.
