Walabot HOME’s reach has expanded to cover more rooms, such as bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms, and is available in several new and affordable bundles.

Its new machine-learning AI adapts to the changing patterns of a home, creating an unprecedented level of accuracy when detecting falls and further eliminating the need for wearables and pendants that are often forced on today’s aging adults. In the case of a fall, Walabot HOME now calls up to four emergency contacts and will shortly provide the option of alerting emergency services. See a short video of how it works here.

Falls are the most dangerous hazard currently facing aging adults, resulting in more life-threatening injuries to the elderly than any other accident. However, Personal Emergency Response bracelets or wearables are resisted by aging adults who associate them with the stigma of helplessness and shame. For this reason, only five percent of older adults use PERS devices, with the majority opting to risk falling rather than use a wearable. Further, 83 percent of PERS wearers who fall don’t alert their device because they want to manage the situation themselves, according to the Journal of Gerontology and Geriatrics.

Unlike PERS wearables, Walabot HOME requires no action on the part of the user in the event of an emergency, which is especially important if the user is rendered unconscious. In the event of a fall, the device automatically calls a list of predetermined emergency contacts, calling and texting up to four caregivers to ensure help arrives. With no cameras or pendants, Walabot HOME maintains privacy while truly enabling seniors to age in place and maintain dignity and comfort in their own home.

“Walabot HOME finally liberates aging adults from their pendant ‘badge of dishonor’ and enables them to age at home on their own terms,” said Ofer Familier, Director of Business Development at Vayyar Imaging. “Since launching Walabot HOME, we’ve seen how our emergency fall detection system saves lives, and gives older adults their confidence back. We’re proud to expand Walabot HOME’s product line to better serve our senior customers.”

Walabot HOME utilizes Vayyar’s industry-leading sensor technology, meaning no optical data is ever collected, and users do not have to worry about the prying eyes of cameras or about their pets triggering the system. Walabot HOME is powered by an ultra wide band 4D radio imaging chip and detects falls via a proprietary machine learning-based fall tracking system. The device simply attaches to the interior wall of any room in the house, including the bathroom, bedroom or kitchen, and continuously scans and monitors for falls to call for help when needed.
