Viking Systems, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of 3D and 2D visualization solutions for complex minimally invasive surgery, has signed a distribution agreement with Universal Medicalcare to sell its new 3DHD Vision System in Mexico.

Universal Medicalcare is a medical products distribution company whose parent company, Universal Cargo, is a logistics company in Mexico.

Viking Systems president and CEO Jed Kennedy said the agreement increases their footprint in the Latin American market, and is another example of the worldwide interest in new 3DHD Vision System.

"With its potential to improve the quality of patient care while reducing procedure time and costs, we look forward to introducing our 3DHD system for minimally invasive procedures into the Mexican market, and to partnering with Universal Medicalcare," Kennedy said.

Universal Medicalcare president Carlos Greenham said they believe many interesting opportunities exist within the Mexican healthcare market and with leading laparoscopic surgeons who have expressed interest in utilizing this 3D technology.
