Based on their existing respective software platforms, the companies will develop new cloud-based integrated medical oncology, radiation oncology and data analytics product suite.

Commenting on the partnership with Flatiron, Varian Medical Systems Oncology Continuum Solutions vice-president Sukhveer Singh said: "Together, we will help empower the oncology community to advance the delivery of cancer care.

"This initiative is an important part of Varian’s efforts to build a comprehensive, cloud-based software platform that enables care coordination and value-based medicine."

The new product suite is being developed to support oncologists to deliver quality care across the cancer care continuum from screening to survivorship.

The firms will provide customers OncoEMR, Flatiron Health’s cloud-based medical oncology EHR, as a first step in the collaboration.

According to Varian, OncoEMR features integrated pathways from multiple organizations such as Via Oncology, as well as library of managed clinical content including the NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates (NCCN Templates).

In addition, OncoEMR will be made seamlessly interoperable with Varian’s ARIA oncology information system, later this year, which is currently in use at around 3,800 cancer centers across the globe.
