NorthShore University HealthSystem in the US, has contracted Nuvon to provide medical device connectivity and interoperability as part of the current Epic installation for its four-hospital system.

The Nuvon System is expected to help the University HealthSystem to manage medical device data, improve patient safety and minimise operational costs.

NorthShore University HealthSystem Chief Information Officer Steven Smith said as a HIMSS Analytics Level 7 hospital with a current Epic implementation, the health system is committed to the quality of patient care and patient safety supported by the electronic sharing and use of patient data.

"We needed a solution that was flexible for today’s needs as well as tomorrow’s, and a partner who could meet our aggressive implementation schedule," Smith added.

Nuvon Chief Executive Officer Cathleen Asch said, "Having complete, rich, accurate real-time patient data available to clinicians at any location, at all times, will enable hospitals to provide the highest level of patient care and patient safety available today."

The other hospitals using the Nuvon System include the Cleveland Clinic, Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego, Virtua, Good Shepherd Medical Center, Temple University Health System and Denver Health and Hospital Authority.
