Technical service organisation Tüv Süd has approved Natural Cycles fertility tracking app, which can be used by women across Europe.
The fertility tracking app has been approved as a class IIb medical device to be used for contraception.
Natural Cycles, which will use smart algorithm to help women track their fertility, is claimed to be the world’s first app to be approved specifically for contraception.
Husband and wife team Dr Raoul Scherwitzl and Dr Elina Berglund have created new fertility tracking app, which is a clinically tested and regulatory approved contraception that can used besides condoms, The Pill and IUDs.
The app will record the daily temperature of the women, and then smart algorithm will be used to determine whether the woman is fertile on that day, enabling to have protected intercourse that could help to prevent pregnancy.
Natural Cycles app is said to be a part of multiple medical products that secured IIb status, including intensive care monitoring and alarm devices, anaesthesia machines, blood pumps for heart-lung machines and blood bags.
