Trice Medical, a company which seeks to enhance minimally invasive orthopedic diagnostics, is purchasing S.E.G-WAY Orthopaedics (SegWAY) for an undisclosed amount.

SegWAY provides solutions for minimally invasive orthopedic procedures. The company is known for its S.E.G-WAY release system, which is a minimally invasive single-portal system that offers less scarring and less postoperative pain.
First introduced in 2007, the system is claimed to be used for both upper and lower extremity in Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release (ECTR), Plantar Fasciitis and Gastoc Release.
S.E.G-WAY is claimed to be the first ECTR system designed to be properly positioned in the incision in the Ulnar safe Zone. It is touted to be the only system that can act specific to anatomy and be patient specific.
Trice Medical CEO Jeffrey O’Donnell Sr. said: “The SegWAY acquisition transforms Trice Medical into the first company that offers both minimally invasive orthopedic diagnostic and surgical solutions.

The S.E.G-WAY ECuTR system has been designed to visualize visualize/ scope above and below the fascia to ensure a safer release of the Cubital Tunnel. The system allows surgeons to Ulnar nerve before releasing the fascia while adding protection to the superficial nerves.
The S.E.G-WAY Endoscopic Plantar Fasciitis System is claimed to offer surgeons better control by allowing the blade to be elevated to the surgeon’s preference and includes better visualization. With Uniportal approach the guide is inserted only as far as the release without damaging the entire underside of the foot.
The S.E.G-WAY Endoscopic Gastroc release system also offers surgeons control by allowing the blade to be elevated to the surgeon’s preference and includes an unparalleled visualization. It offers a tactile feel of an endoscopic scalpel in a Uni/ minimally invasive approach that can reduce lengthy recovery time with such surgeries.
