Transcend Medical, a developer of minimally invasive glaucoma therapies, has launched Transcend Vold Gonio (TVG) lens to improve visualization of the eye while performing micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedures.
The TVG features a 1.2X floating magnification lens designed to minimize pressure on the cornea and enhance the view of the iridocorneal angle, essential for MIGS procedures, and a stabilization ring to improve control of the eye .
Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines spokesperson Quang H Nguyen said the lens also enables better globe control without distorting the anterior chamber, which sometimes happen with conventional gonio lenses.
Transcend Medical president and chief executive officer Brian Walsh said the TVG represents the next generation of surgical gonioscopy technology.
"Advancements in visualization technologies will be an important component in the success of the new generation of ‘micro-invasive’ glaucoma procedures," Walsh added.
