Toshiba America Medical Systems (TAMS) has introduced a new FDA-cleared PET/CT imaging system, Celesteion.

The system combines PET and CT for all radiation and oncology imaging needs, including tumor detection, treatment evaluation and CT simulation scans.

Toshiba CT business unit senior director Satrajit Misra said: "Toshiba puts its customers first by providing innovative solutions that consistently deliver accurate and efficient results while improving workflow for providers.

"We are introducing Celesteion because we know there is a specific need for a PET/CT system that puts patients first."

According to the company, the system features 70cm PET and CT field-of-view, 4mm PET crystals and 0.5mm CT detector elements, as well as 20cm PET Z-axis coverage.

Celesteion can be used in CT imaging, CT interventions, PET/CT imaging and CT radiation oncology simulation scans.

The company will showcase the system at Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, US, which will take place in between 30 November and 5 December.

TAMS distributes radiology and cardiovascular systems, including CT, MR, ultrasound, X-ray and cardiovascular equipment.
