Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation (TMSC), a member of the Toshiba group of companies, has reported that Satoshi Tsunakawa will be appointed as new president and CEO.

Mr Tsunakawa will succeed Kenichi Komatsu, who becomes an adviser to the board of TMSC and an adviser to Toshiba Corporation.

Mr Tsunakawa, who joined Toshiba Corporation in 1979, has experience in global sales, business planning and strategic planning. He held positions at Toshiba’s medical subsidiaries in Europe and the US and in fact was president of Toshiba America Medical Systems from 2004-2008. For the previous year, Tsunakawa has led the global sales, strategic planning and corporate communications functions.

Toshiba Medical Systems is a global provider of diagnostic imaging systems and comprehensive medical solutions, such as CT, X-ray and vascular, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI systems as well as information systems for medical institutions.
