Terumo Cardiovascular Group is set to supply Nonin Medical's SenSmart Model X-100 Universal Oximetry System to adult and pediatric cardiovascular hospitals in the US.

Terumo will distribute the system, as an expansion to the distribution agreement between Terumo and Nonin Medical, which was originally established in May 2013.

Terumo Cardiovascular Group cardiovascular monitoring senior product manager Carol Koch said the customers are expecting features like an easier to use interface, color-coded and site-labelled display and smaller signal processors.

"The result is the SenSmart Model X-100 Universal Oximetry System, an intuitive and easy to use device that delivers both pulse and regional oximetry measurements today, and is designed to accommodate more parameters in the future," Koch added.

The Nonin SenSmart Universal Oximetry offers measurements of both regional oximetry (rSO2) and pulse oximetry (SpO2), and provides monitoring of up to six-channels of rSO2 and SpO2 in a side by side view.

The system is said to help anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and cardiovascular surgeons to quickly identify tissue ischemia events before they become critical.

The system features EQUANOX Advance rSO2 Sensors that provide accurate readings even in patients with low perfusion or in the presence of motion, said Terumo.

In addition, the system’s SenSmart Monitor offers Bluetooth wireless or RS232 case download connectivity, as well as connectivity with Philips IntelliVue Monitors through VueLink or IntelliBridge interface.
