Tekni-Plex Healthcare has acquired precision extrusion manufacturer Johnson Plastic Group (JPG) for an undisclosed sum, to expand its patient care solutions platform.

Based in Mexicali, Mexico, JPG is engaged in designing, and developing high-tolerance solutions leveraging advanced extrusion and machine technologies.

The company is specialised in precision extrusion manufacturing processes for the complex and demanding applications for medical devices.

It offers the complete suite of extrusion solutions in several medical device applications for interventional and therapeutic procedures.

JPG owner and general manager Enrique Preciado said: “We are truly excited to become part of Tekni-Plex Healthcare.

“We now will be able to provide even greater opportunities for our employees and a broader range of products and material science solutions for our customers.”

The acquisition is said to expand Tekni-Plex Healthcare’s medical device capabilities and widen its global footprint with an additional presence in Mexico.

It enables the company to leverage JPG’s expertise across the entire global customer base and healthcare end markets.

Tekni-Plex said that the addition of JPG will support its advanced patient care solutions platform, focused on material science and process technologies.

Operating in the healthcare and consumer product markets, the company provides medical device components along with material science and manufacturing technologies.

Tekni-Plex Healthcare CEO Chris Qualters said: “This acquisition makes total sense for us and improves our ability to service our customers.

“It builds upon our existing solutions capabilities and increases our geographic reach, bringing us close to our key customer base in Mexico and the Baja region.

“We are looking forward to creating an even more robust set of offerings and solutions that help improve patient outcomes.”

Last month, Tekni-Plex has completed the acquisition of Florida-based rigid packaging solutions company Grupo Phoenix, to expand its capabilities in food and beverage markets.

Grupo Phoenix offers plastic and paper products to dairy, desserts, coffee, beverages, ice cream, soups, spreads, cosmetics and household cleaning markets.
