Symmetry Surgical, a hospital direct surgical instrumentation division of Symmetry Medical, has launched twelve new line enhancements to Bookwalter surgical retractor system.

In support of the Aorn and association for the advancement of medical instrumentation (AAMI) standards, new enhancements reduce the overall tray weight of a complete Bookwalter table mounted retractor system, while providing increased usability.

Other new features include reusable radiolucent blades used in procedures where an intra-operative X-ray is used as part of the surgical intervention and an expanded ring system increases surgical exposure and also enhances the benefits of the company’s Opti-length surgical instruments.

Symmetry Medical president and chief executive officer Thomas Sullivan said the company is thrilled to provide products that will expand and enhance usability for its clinician base and assist them in serving the needs of their valued patients.
