Condition-indicating solutions provider SpotSee has announced the acquisition of Biosynergy assets for an undisclosed sum.
Biosynergy is involved in the manufacturing of medical devices used for the monitoring of the core temperature of red blood cells.
It offers FDA validated HemoTemp blood bag monitoring solution that irreversibly indicate whether the blood’s core temperature has exceeded 10°C.
The solution offers medical professionals a precise tool to maintain blood at the correct temperature, as blood exceeding 10°C should not be used in patients.
The device also consists of reversible indicators to demonstrate medical professionals whether the blood is increasing or decreasing.
At present, Biosynergy’s device is used in major hospital systems and blood labs across North America.
Biosynergy CEO Fred Suzuki said: “SpotSee is the ideal owner for the next generation of Biosynergy and its technology.
“Their global sales, marketing and distribution network combined with manufacturing scale will help the HemoTemp brand protect blood recipients throughout the world.”
Through its global distribution and reseller network of more than 2,000 partners, SpotSee is planning to expand the product line across the globe.
Biosynergy’s products are said to add to SpotSee’s life-sciences portfolio of products used for monitoring the condition of vaccines, pharmaceuticals, biologics, specimens, blood, diagnostics, and medical devices.
SpotSee’s products portfolio includes recognised brands such as WarmMark, ColdMark, Thermostrip, ShockWatch and Briteline drug testing strips.
In addition, SpotSee intends to leverage the Biosynergy technology to expand into blood plasma monitoring.
