SpectraScience has presented its WavSTAT4 optical biopsy system at the Digestive Disease Week Conference (DDW) held in San Diego, California, US.

The WavSTAT system utilizes light to optically diagnose colorectal and esophageal cancer tissue and provide physician with an immediate analysis.

SpectraScience chief executive officer Michael Oliver said the company looks forward to DDW and meet with practitioners who can benefit from its WavSTAT technology.

"We are also very pleased to have leading research teams presenting data that demonstrates WavSTAT’s ability to diagnose and distinguish cancerous tissue, and discuss their plans for continued research to advance the technology," Oliver added.

The company said it will exhibit its WavSTAT system at DDW until 22 May 2012.

Headquartered in US, SpectraScience develops light-based analysis systems to determine whether tissue is normal, pre-cancerous or cancerous without physically removing tissue from the body.
