Spacelabs Healthcare, a healthcare division of OSI Systems, has received $3.5m contract from a Minnesota healthcare system.

Under the contract, Minnesota healthcare system will utilize Spacelabs’ patient monitoring and networking solutions which will help create a virtual ICU, allowing the centralized, real-time monitoring of patients’ vital signs from multiple care centers across the hospital’s wide area network.

OSI Systems CEO Deepak Chopra said ICU staff at one central monitoring room of the main hospital will have real-time access to the vital signs and alarms of patients at five rural facilities.

"This is a model for major healthcare institutions everywhere, in optimizing resources to improve patient outcomes," Chopra added.

Spacelabs’ modular, configured monitors and telemetry systems help in decision-making and also provide immediate access to comprehensive patient data when and where needed, thus improving patient care.
