SonoSite has received the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) approval for its fifth generation Edge ultrasound system.
St Vincent Medical Center Northeast medical director and St Vincent Emergency Physicians Ultrasound director Robert Blankenship said the SonoSite Edge ultrasound system provides brighter, crisper images with improved detail.
"It can be hard dealing with the bright lights and volatile environment of the Emergency Department; the redesigned black, backlit keyboard, brighter high-resolution display, and aluminum frame in the EDGE system are great enhancements," Blankenship said.
SonSite president and CEO Kevin Goodwin said they are excited to bring the EDGE system to point-of-care medicine.
