Medical device manufacturer Smiths Medical is exhibiting its new PharmGuard Infusion Management Software with Interoperability platform at the 2015 Healthcare information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS15) in Chicago, US, which is being held from 13 to 16 April.

The new PharmGuard Interoperability software has been designed to receive infusion therapy data sent wirelessly from a Medfusion 4000 pump.

It allows clinicians to view, assess and print infusion therapy information to assist with continuous quality improvements (CQI) across their enterprise.

The new PharmGuard Interoperability software add-on module for the PharmGuard Server software acquires that information one step further by automatically charting it directly into patient records on the hospital’s EMR system, saving clinician time and enhancing workflow.

In addition, it will increase documentation accuracy and allows to improve patient safety by reducing manual data entry errors
The new software supports auto-charting through Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) integration profiles. IHE has been developed for healthcare professionals to improve the way of computer systems sharing healthcare information.

PharmGuard Interoperability software also features enhanced alarm reporting, which helps hospitals comply with joint commission alarm reduction goals.

Using the IHE alert communication management profile, the software module forwards alerts that are generated by the Medfusion 4000 syringe pump to Alarm Management applications.
