Siesta Medical has introduced Encore Tongue Suspension System to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the US.

The Encore System is a minimally invasive surgical (MIS) procedure, which simplifies and improves the control of tongue suspension, to prevent its collapse into the airway during sleep.

Washington Hospital surgeon Jason van Tassel said through a small incision, the Encore System allowed them to navigate the tongue base and easily place suspension loops.

Siesta Medical president and CEO Peter Martin said they believe the Encore System provides a significant, simple and economical surgical option for treating OSA for those who are unable to comply with CPAP use.
