The IT and medical technology company, Sectra, has purchased Burnbank Systems to expand its medical systems operations in the UK.

Burnbank Systems provides IT services including hardware support for a single user system to design and maintain large customer networks.

Sectra medical systems business area president Torbjorn Kronander said the delivery of services to the healthcare sector via hosted services is a supply model that will grow in significance.

"Burnbank has built up a successful operation with exciting business development potential and the online services offered by Sectra to the healthcare sector will add further customer benefits," Kronander added.

The transaction includes cash purchase consideration of up to GBP5m ($7.7m) as well as an additional purchase consideration of up to GBP3m ($4.6m).

Sectra develops and sells IT systems and services for radiology, women’s health, orthopaedics and rheumatology.
