Samsung Medical Center (SMC) in Seoul, South Korea, has ordered RaySearch Laboratories' RayStation treatment planning system.

Samsung Medical Center (SMC) has a cancer center which provides various treatment options within radiation therapy.

The company is also building a new center for proton therapy which will be equipped with an accelerator provided by Sumitomo Heavy Industries.

The new proton therapy center is expected to be operational in 2014.

SMC will utilize RaySearch’s RayStation as its treatment system for planning of all proton treatments.

RaySearch Laboratories Johan Lof CEO said: "Proton therapy is an exciting and rapidly evolving field of radiation therapy and I believe that the new order strengthens our position in this segment significantly."
