Samsung Electronics America, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has acquired Massachusetts-based computed tomography (CT) company NeuroLogica for an undisclosed sum.

Under the acquisition, Samsung will leverage its global brand awareness and technology in consumer electronics, IT and communications with NeuroLogica to expand medical imaging business.

The acquisition also forms part of Samsung’s 2020 vision to explore new avenues of growth in the healthcare business by improving medical imaging diagnosis and providing innovation to both patients and doctors.

NeuroLogica’s portable medical imaging product used for CT scanning includes battery powered, full body, 32 slice BodyTom, which provides high quality CT images in the clinic, ICU, OR and emergency/trauma department.

The other product includes CereTom, a 8-slice small bore CT scanner, which delivers high quality non-contrast, angiography, and contrast perfusion scans in radiology department, ICU/NICU/SICU/MICU, and neuro interventional radiology and maxillofacial surgical suites.
