The products, manufactured by Trividia Health, were sold at all Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs and Pak 'N Save stores nationwide. Trividia Health manufactures blood glucose test strips for more than 100 retailers.
Trividia Health reports that some blood glucose test strip lots, packaged during a specific timeframe, may include open, unsealed test strip vials within the sealed test strip vial boxes.
Exposure to an open environment for long periods can affect test strip performance. If a user does not notice an open test strip vial upon opening the sealed test strip vial box, and then uses the test strips to measure blood glucose, the meter may provide incorrect low blood glucose results.
These products are sold over-the-counter near the pharmacy or in the medication aisle.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported in relation to the Safeway recall. This recall is being issued out of an abundance of caution.
Customers are asked to discard the product or return it to their local store for a full refund.
