Roche has entered a new era in haematology testing, with the launch of the new cobas m 511 analyser.
The solution, which is available in countries accepting CE mark approval, features Bloodhound technology for printing, staining and imaging.
Bloodhound technology uses 30µL of blood to print a monolayer onto the slide and stains with an advanced method to further analyse morphology.
It also helps to classify cells that can be displayed on a viewing station.
The cobas m 511enables to carry out haematology testing by combining three components of the process, including digital morphology analyser, cell counter and classifier into one streamlined solution that prepares, stains and analyses microscopy blood slides.
Roche’s new analyser will identify, count, isolate and categorise white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Later, the system will present the digital images of all these cell types.
The analyser offers cell-by-cell images, helping to eliminate the need for microscopic review.
Roche Diagnostics CEO Roland Diggelmann said: “With this launch, patients will benefit from a faster and more accurate diagnosis of blood diseases, as diverse as anemia and leukemia.
“We are entering a new area of innovation with Roche in haematology testing, supporting customers with integrated and efficient laboratory solutions, which deliver increased medical value”.
According to the company, there are more than 150 identified haematology related diseases that are either benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
