Providence has received a US patent for the comprehensive particulate matter measurement system (CPMMS) and the Methodology for its use.
Providence CPMMS provides relevant metrics to measure health impact of air quality and eliminates the need to change monitoring equipment every time the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) changes PM definitions and standards. The technology is expected to have potentially far-reaching implications on a national level and was granted a patent (US Patent 7,600,441 B2) in 2009.

Yousheng Zeng, an inventor of the system and principal of Providence, said: “Unlike current methods of monitoring air-borne particulate matter (PM), the CPMMS monitors the portion of PM that can reach and deposit in a human respiratory system.”
